Title:
Needs and Wants
Annotation: In lesson one of the Identifying
Natural and Man-Made Resources unit, students will discuss
the terms needs and wants. During the discussion, they will
generate a list of each. The students will review the list and
think about the things they cannot live without. Using the list,
students will cut out pictures of needs and wants and make a
collage of each.
Title:
Identifying Natural and Man-Made Resources
Annotation: Lesson two of the Identifying Natural and
Man-Made Resources unit introduces the terms natural and
manmade resources. Reviewing needs and wants, students will
determine which is natural and which is man-made. Students will
identify and differentiate natural/man-made resources and list
the characteristics of each. Finally, students will understand
that it takes people at work to make natural resources into
man-made resources.
Title:
Protect the Earth and Keep it Clean
Annotation: In lesson three of the
Identifying Natural and Man-Made Resources unit, students
will review the term pollution and discuss how pollution is
harmful to the earth. During the discussion students will
reflect on who and what can contribute to pollution. After the
discussion, students will discuss the importance of reducing
pollution and generate ideas for ways to do so. Finally, from
these ideas, students will choose a service-learning project and
complete it over a desired time period. (Environmental
